Career
30+ Years
in Australian TV news & current affairs
For more than 30 years, Sheree Gibson has worked at the heart of Australian television news and current affairs, never promising what she can't deliver, and never taking it lightly when someone chooses her to tell their story.
Her journey began with an Associate Diploma in Journalism from Macleay College, and took her through some of the country's most respected newsrooms, Channel Nine, Today Tonight, Screentime Communications, and Seven Network's Special Projects division on the cold-case investigation series Murder Uncovered. In 2018 she worked on major investigations including Murder, Lies & Alibis and the Phil Vasyli case. From 2020 she has been a producer with 60 Minutes Australia.
Sheree was part of the 60 Minutes team, alongside reporter Tom Steinfort, that won the Tom Krause Award for Outstanding Foreign Correspondent at the Kennedy Awards, recognition for coverage that included securing access to interview Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv during wartime. That access came from relentless persistence, working every contact she had, until the door finally opened. She was also awarded Women in Media, Best Journalist/Producer in 2022.
"But the work that matters most has never been the accolades. It's the people."
She takes the title of booker seriously. She comes into people's lives at the best of times, and far more often, at the very worst. When someone chooses to speak with her, they are handing her something precious: their story, their grief, their truth. That trust is never something she takes lightly. It is, every time, a privilege.
Everyone has a story. Her hope is always that they choose to tell it with her first.
Three ways to bring 30 years of insider media experience into your room.
A relaxed, practical session for your team, built around what really makes a pitch land in a producer's inbox, and what makes it get deleted in three seconds flat. Sheree walks your team through the other side of the pitch: what a TV producer is actually thinking, how a story really comes together, and how the shifting media landscape is changing what works.
Equal parts masterclass and insider story, a keynote thirty years in the making. Sheree pulls back the curtain on the real skill behind the biggest interviews in the world: the ethical persistence, the relationship-building, and the trust it takes to get someone to say yes when it matters most.
A more interactive, workshop-style session for organisations wanting hands-on guidance, ideal for journalism programs, PR teams levelling up their media strategy, or organisations preparing for a high-stakes media moment of their own.
